If you decide to add any kind of hanging garden to your home here are a few useful steps to consider:

LIGHTING: As we know not all plants like the same amount of lighting. Once you decided where your hanging garden will find its new home in your home, it is time to observe the area during the different hours of the day, from morning till sunset. Is the place in constant direct sunlight or just during parts of the day.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLANT: Plants that want to develop deep long roots are obviously not going to be your best friend for a hanging garden composition. Pick petunias, pansies, coleus and various kinds of ivy, vines are best for hanging baskets. They fill in nicely and give your hanging garden a fairytale like looks. If you want to go for an editable garden your best bet will be strawberries, vinying tomatoes and lettuce.

WATERING: The emphasis is on “hanging” garden so it might be a little tricky to reach the baskets for your plants watering needs. Be sure to plan ahead and pick a height that is still accessible, either outdoors with a watering wand or indoors with a stool to reach each height.
