Best SoCal plants for year-round blooming

We tend to forget that seasons even exist living in Southern California. But plants have their own cycle, no matter if the weather conditions change drastically or not. If you love blooming plants all year around in your outdoor space, here are a few ideas of Must-Haves! :

  • Hibiscus. This plant is a undeniable beauty and grows in color families of yellow, orange and red. The hibiscus plant can grow up to 15 feet tall in ideal weather conditions and its flowers are between 5” -6” wide. You can plant hibiscus along the side of your yard as a hedge divider, trimming it about 6 feet tall and it also does well in bigger pots, indoors or outdoors.

  • Petunias bloom in a wide range of colors and pattern and are ideal color additions to your yard. They do well from spring to the first frost season.

  • African Violets. This absolutely stunning plant which can be found in a variety of colors, will produce flowers all year long. African violets stem from about 100 miles south of the equator and they love consistent weather temperatures. Southern California definitely supports this preference. This plant does excellent on porches, patios and sunrooms.
