Adding Stunning Focal Pieces to Your Garden

Every garden should have a focal point: that one (or two, or three) standout element(s) that cause a visitor to pause, focus their attention, and mutter ‘Wow’.

A focal point could be a stunning tree, a cluster or vibrant flowers, are arching trellis, a water feature, a hand carved statue, a colorful flower pot and so on! There are endless opportunities for adding the WOW factor to your garden.

Below are some images of a recent garden we installed in Pacific Beach San Diego. At this particular residence we decided to incorporate several wow factors.

Focal Element #1: Greenwalls

Greenwalls are great way to add vertical elements to the yard, disguise large plain walls, and invite visitors inside.

Upon entering the front courtyard of this Pacific Beach home, you are greeted with massive custom greenwall. Planted with an array of colorful plants, additional lighting, and hanging pots; how could you not want to come in and explore this property more?

As you make your way towards the backyard of this home, you find yourself face to face with a second custom greenwall overflowing with clusters of stunning succulents.

Focal Element #2: Water Feature

Water features are another effective way to add that additional wow element to your yard. Not only are they visually appealing; the soothing sound of trickling water immediately encapsulates garden visitors with a sense of serene and calmness.

Focal element #3: Flower Pots

Flower pots are one of our favorite ways to add year round color to any yard.

Here we used several tall ceramic pots along the sideyard to entice company to the backyard. We planted the pots with various flowering plants that would attract pollinators: a win win for everyone.
